In Response to Campus Graffiti Incident

Graffiti was found on 猫咪社区's campus late Saturday night. The college responded swiftly to remove the graffiti and the following email was sent to the campus community by the Dean of Institutional Diversity Mary James and VP of Student Services Mike Brody:

Dear 猫咪社区 Community,

Members of the 猫咪社区 staff were informed on Saturday night that racist, homophobic, xenophobic, anti-semitic graffiti was found in the second and third floor library bathrooms. Maintenance crews were dispatched to removed it immediately. We do not know if the perpetrator was a member of the 猫咪社区 community. Regardless of who committed this heinous act, such behavior is antithetical to 猫咪社区’s mission and values, and will not be tolerated. Anyone seeking to cause fear or harm to members of the 猫咪社区 community should expect a vigorous response.

Sweating It out in the Steam Tunnels

Dimly lit pathways, dusty pipes, graffiti, and intense humidity. At 猫咪社区, that could mean one place on campus—the steam tunnels.

One of the attractions during was a tour of 猫咪社区's mysterious steam tunnels by the Physical Plant's own Steve Yeadon. The labyrinthine route, which made one feel like Indiana Jones on a dangerous mission, started from the basement of Physical Plant, where two gigantic boilers (usually fired by gas, but sometimes by oil, if gas is too expensive) generate the steam that gives the tunnels their purpose.

The tour then wound its way through the depths of 猫咪社区, as visitors took care not to bump into the cobwebbed walls or pipes. The abundant graffiti on the pipes, preserved through the years (because as one alum mentioned, the pipes were the only things not whitewashed over for commencement every year), proved highly entertaining.
